Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy
Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy
I’m a Co-Founder of the Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy, a research and advocacy charity, and from 2016-2022 I was the UK Executive Director.
I am particularly fascinated and concerned with how states use feminism to pursue foreign policy aims. Whilst I focused on promoting FFP frameworks to governments at the beginning of my tenure at CFFP, by the end I became more cautious about doing so and instead saw my role as more of a watchdog function to discourage the co-optation of feminism.
Some of my favourite CFFP projects include:
The Gender, International Affairs, and Think-Tanks toolkit, produced in collaboration with Chatham House and the British American Security Information Council. It was translated into Arabic courtesy of the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs and UN Women, and translated into Spanish courtesy of COMEXI.
The four issues of Disrupted published between 2017 and 2019, covering topics like Feminist Foreign Policy, reproductive rights, migration, and postcolonialism.
The Intersectionality and Cybersecurity toolkit, funded by the UK Government, and developed to train UK civil servants in the cybersecurity field.
Our advocacy around nuclear disarmament, including our reports Finding Feminism in Nuclear Policy, funded by Carnegie Corporation of New York, and Feminism, Power, and Nuclear Weapons: An Eye on the P5, funded by Ploughshares.
